Everything about catch-all emails, BounceBrake results, and how credits and billing work.

The basics 4

What is a catch-all or risky email?

A catch-all (or accept-all) domain is set up to accept mail for any address, whether a mailbox exists or not. Standard verifiers can’t tell a real address from an invented one on that domain, so they label the addresses risky, catch-all or unknown. Data providers often mark the same addresses with a low confidence score.

Is a catch-all email the same as a risky email?

Mostly, yes. Email verifiers call them catch-all or accept-all; data providers tend to call them risky or give them a low confidence score. Either way it means nobody has confirmed a real person behind the address.

Why can’t my current verifier check them?

A catch-all domain gives the same answer for every address, real or not, so a standard verifier has nothing to go on and returns unknown. BounceBrake is built specifically for these addresses: our proprietary verification resolves them to safe to send or would bounce.

What happens if I don’t check my risky emails?

You either throw them away, and lose every real buyer among them, or you send to them unchecked. Unchecked sends to dead mailboxes raise your bounce rate, which can push mail to spam and get sending accounts paused.

How does BounceBrake decide an address is valid?

BounceBrake uses its own proprietary verification, built for the catch-all and unknown addresses other verifiers can’t settle. Each address comes back valid (safe to send) or invalid (would bounce). If we can’t reach a confident answer within 7 days, it’s marked unknown and the credit is returned.

How long do results take?

Most lists finish within 24–48 hours. The dashboard shows live counts while it runs, and the API can call you back as each address resolves.

What do the statuses mean?

valid: safe to send. invalid: would bounce, or isn’t a well-formed address. unknown: we couldn’t reach a verdict within 7 days; the credit for it is returned automatically. pending: still being verified.

Does BounceBrake catch soft bounces?

No. A verdict tells you whether the mailbox exists. Soft bounces (a full mailbox, a server that’s temporarily down, a block on your sender reputation) depend on the day and on your sending setup, so no list check can predict them.

Does BounceBrake use my domain or sending accounts?

No. You only upload addresses. Your domains, mailboxes and sending tools are never connected to the verification itself.

Using BounceBrake 5

How do I get the best out of it?

Run your list through your usual verifier first, then send BounceBrake only the catch-all, accept-all, risky or unknown segment. You pay us only for the addresses your verifier couldn’t settle.

Which verifiers does it work with?

Any of them. Export the risky segment as a CSV from ZeroBounce, NeverBounce, MillionVerifier, Bouncer, DeBounce or any other tool and upload it. Connecting your verifier’s API key so BounceBrake can run the first pass for you is coming soon.

Is there an API?

Yes. Create a key in your workspace settings, then verify single addresses, batches of up to 100, or whole CSV files. Results come back by polling or by a signed callback to your HTTPS endpoint. See the API overview.

Can I send results straight to my sending tool?

Yes. Connect Smartlead or Instantly in a workspace, pick a campaign when you upload, and the valid leads are added to it when the file finishes. Anything that can make an HTTP request, such as Clay, Zapier, Make or n8n, can use the API.

Can I manage several clients?

Yes. Each client gets its own workspace with separate files, keys and integrations. Invite people to one workspace, several, or the whole account with admin, member or viewer roles. How many workspaces and seats you get depends on your plan.

Credits and billing 6

What is a credit?

One credit verifies one unique address. Duplicates within a file and malformed addresses are free. You see the exact cost before you start a file.

Is there a free trial?

Every new account gets 100 free credits. No card needed.

What happens to unused credits?

Plan credits are added at each monthly renewal and expire at the end of that billing period: unused plan credits don’t carry over to the next month. Pay-as-you-go and pack credits, and your 100 free trial credits, never expire while your account is active. We always spend plan credits first, so purchased credits are used only once the month’s plan credits run out. If you cancel, your plan credits stay usable until the end of the period you paid for, and your purchased credits stay in your account.

What if I need more credits?

Buy a credit pack or any amount from 1,000 to 500,000 credits pay as you go, at any time, with or without a plan. If you start a file without enough credits, the dashboard offers a top-up for exactly what’s missing.

How does billing work?

Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe. Upgrade, downgrade, cancel, update your card and download invoices yourself from the billing portal.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases are final except for billing errors or a failure on our side; see the refund policy. Credits for addresses we couldn’t resolve are returned to your balance automatically.

Security and privacy 2

How is my data handled?

Lists are stored in private, access-controlled storage in the United States, all traffic is encrypted in transit, and only people with access to the workspace can download results. We never sell or share your lists. See the privacy policy.

Email support@bouncebrake.com. We reply within one to two business days; put “urgent” in the subject if something is blocking a campaign.
